This year, Farb has two AVID elective classes at sixth grade, two AVID elective classes at seventh grade, and two AVID elective classes at eighth grade. There is also an AVID elective class of 7th and 8th graders.
The AVID elective classes offer:

A curriculum that focuses on organizational strategies and WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading) strategies
- Leadership opportunities in AVID Club and AVID Leadership Academy
In order to be a part of the AVID elective class, a student must:
- have a 2.0 - 3.5 grade point average
- be motivated to learn
- attend regularly
- be interviewed by an AVID elective teacher, AVID coordinator, AVID Site Team member, and/or counselor
- A student might also be the first in his/her family to attend college
