Dress Code

DRESS CODE POLICY

At Farb, we understand that the way students dress allows them to feel confident, focused, and ready for learning. However, Farb is responsible for ensuring student attire does not interfere with the health or safety of students and that attire does not contribute to a hostile or intimidating atmosphere for any student or staff. Teachers and administrators reserve the right to address issues clothing considered to be inappropriate.

The dress code requirements below apply equally to students regardless of gender identity.

Students MUST wear:

•      Clothing that covers the trunk of the body from armpit to armpit, down to the upper thigh (3-4 Inches-see 

        diagram below). Tops must have sleeves or shoulder straps. No Strapless

•       Close-toed shoes with a firm sole. Open-toed shoes, slides, bedroom shoes, and house slippers are NOT

         allowed, unless it is part of an approved ASB spirit day.

Additional Requirements

• Undergarments are not to be exposed, including bra straps.

• Tops must cover midsection without constantly needing to be pulled down or adjusted (no knot tying the back).

• No accessories that could be considered dangerous or could be used as a weapon can be worn. For example: wallet chains or jewelry with spikes.

• Clothing may not depict or imply:

  • Violent language or images

  • Language or images regarding drugs, alcohol, vaping, tobacco products, or paraphernalia

  • Hate speech, profanity, or gang affiliation

  • Pornography, nudity, or sexual acts

  • Images or language that create a hostile or intimidating environment for others

• Hats, beanies, and do-rags are allowed in the classroom; however, they may not cover students' ears. Hoodies may be worn outside only, and staff reserves the right to ensure students do not have earbuds/headphones on..

• Waistband should be at hipbone or above --- no saggy pants.

•   The administration reserves the right to determine what constitutes appropriate dress. Students who do not adhere to Farb's Dress Code guidelines above will be provided with 3 options:

1. Students may change into alternative and appropriate clothing they have with them for the remainder of the day.

2. Students may be provided temporary clothing from the school, which they must wear for the remainder of the day.

3. Students may call a parent to bring appropriate clothing to school.
